A Vision

It is said that “we only realize the value of a moment once it becomes a memory”, to that effect we must utilize every moment and use it to the fullest. Whatever it is that we plan to endeavor on in our lives we must do it will all might, putting aside the fear of failure, opposing forces and gathering up the strength we need to face trials that we will definitely face on our journey. Having a vision is one of the most important things that an individual can possess. A lot of people have ideas and plans and what separates the ordinary from the extraordinary is that the extraordinary take action and actually do something about it.

a. Fear of failure.

The greatest enemy an individual can face is one’s self, a single man can face odds beyond comprehension and still conquer as long as he has one mind and he is decided, regardless of what he/she faces it will be met head-on. We have enough opposition to our visions from outside the last thing we need is a divided mind, caused by fear of failure. Every great vision has a possibility of failure but the fear should be overcome for fear is a cancer that will eat you up from the inside out. Many people have great visions but the fear of failure makes them afraid to even take the first step. But this shouldn’t be the case “for God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind’’ 2 Timothy 1:7.

b. Opposing forces

The moment you decide to pursue your vision the world will seem as if it’s out to put you down. There will be discouragements from all sides, even the people that are supposed to be in your corner will be the ones telling you that what you are planning cannot be done or will fail (giving you various reasons why it will fail). But what all forgets are all the reasons why your plan can succeed, a vision starts from within and even if you explain it to someone else, no one will ever truly be able to see it apart from you, now while advise is good never let someone tell you that your vision is impossible because only you can see it and that should give one all the strength to pursue it. They will never truly understand what your vision is and as such they will try to shoot it down. So all we can do is put our plan in action and succeeding so that they can finally see what you had in mind (there is nothing sweeter than proving critics wrong). Most people who criticize other ideas secretly wish that they had the courage to do what they are criticizing (how ironic).

c. Procrastination

Do not postpone your vision, some call procrastination as wisdom e.g. am postponing my plans because the time is not right. While that might be true it is sometimes cowardice that causes procrastination (fear of failure, fear of your ideas being ridiculed by peers etc.). chase your vision with all might and don’t waste time. Opportunities don’t come every day so pursue it while you still can and don’t postpone your vision for petty reasons. Be bold enough to defy the odds and do what you need to do.

Most of the greats of this world all dared to do something that their neighbor was too afraid to do, so understand that your vision is yours and its unique because it has your DNA and no one thinks like you that’s what makes it special and that is the reason why it is likely to work. Doing what everyone is doing might seem safe but the world would be boring if we were all the same. So believe in yourself and take a chance on you for once, because that idea that you are about to copy was once someone’s idea and it worked for him now it’s time to follow yours. Whatever your vision is, a business idea, a project, a carrier, a plan etc. pursue it and utilize the moment by realizing how important it is. “WE ONLY REALIZE THE VALUE OF A MOMENT WHEN IT BECOMES A MEMORY”. I wish I had the courage to pursue that idea are words that shouldn’t hunt us later.
