Can you see, can you hear, and can you feel?

(This Post is a Build Up on Inception and A battle for the mind)

We are surrounded by a vast amount of information in our environment, all competing for our attention, from the temperature of the air, the smell of the room, the intensity of light, the sound of your neighbor telling you a story to the taste of the gum you are chewing. Our conscious attention can only accommodate so much information without us going insane. And so to maintain a level of sanity, certain information sips into our brain without our conscious awareness and the brain will decide whether these sensory stimuli are worth our conscious attention or not, if it, it will arouse our attention, if it isn’t then it will not be consciously perceived. It is a natural phenomenon that helps us to focus our conscious attention on what is important. So whether our brain has adapted to the presence of sensory stimuli (like a ticking clock in a room whose sound seems to disappear after a while) or it has discarded it as irrelevant to capture conscious attention; there is a vast amount of sensory stimuli (or information) from the environment entering our brain and being processes without us being consciously aware of.

Imagine if we were consciously aware of every bit of stimuli in the environment

The brain would be reminding you that you are putting on clothes, from the shirt to the trouser and how those clothes fell on your body, your brain would constantly be reminding you of the smell of your perfume and lotion as long as there is a trace of that scent on your body, your brain would need to process the shape of your phone and notice every dent and scratch on the screen every time you look at it. And so to avoid the mental task of consciously being aware of these stimuli for example, you only notice your perfume and scent of lotion when you are applying it, and throughout the day you reach a point where you don’t notice the presence of the scent unless you bring your nose close to your skin, you will notice how your furry coat feels on your skin the first few moments after you put in on and through the day you won’t notice the feel of that cloth on your skin unless you draw attention to it.

Another concept can be applied regarding the shape of the phone example, when you first see the phone you process a significant amount of information about the phone and its dimensions and a mental picture is kept, so the next time you pick up your phone a significant amount of what you will see (or perceive) about the shape is but a stored mental picture, this avoids you re-processing the same amount of information unless there is a significant change on the phone that will arouse the focus of your brain, say a scratch or dent (top-down vs bottom-up perception). And so, by extension, our experience of our world is influenced by where we focus our attention and our previous experiences. Changes in the shapes of buildings, shapes of roads, etc. will only be able to arouse our attention if the change is significant, otherwise, we will pass by the building with the brain depending on the stored mental image (top-down perception).

And so, for this post, the gist of the above explanation can be summarized as follows, the experience of our world is not as simple as the sum total of all of the sensory information (or sensations) together. Rather, our experience (or perception) is complex and is influenced by where we focus our attention and past experience. And so there can be a discrepancy between what we perceive and what is actually there because we are not consciously aware of every bit of information entering our brain and yet this information has the ability to affect how we behave. Some have mastered this phenomenon and unfortunately, it can be a weapon in the enemies’ hands.

Secret warfare on the mind

Subliminal: existing or operating below the threshold of consciousness. insufficiently intense to produce a discrete sensation but is designed to be intense enough to influence the mental processes or the behavior of the individual. Sensory stimuli below the “absolute threshold".

Just because stimuli (or information) can slip past our consciousness doesn’t mean that they can’t affect our behavior. Subliminal messages will not be picked up by our conscious but are intense enough to elicit the intended response, be it biological or psychological. And so, there are various people who have exposed certain music videos, series, and movies pointing out certain subliminal messages in them, and the question that usually arises is, “well I didn't notice that in the music video or see that in the cartoon, so why does it matter if its there??” well the simple answer is it matters because it affects your behavior. And the warfare is so subtle and sinister, it is, you have to admit a masterpiece of deception. Your behavior is being manipulated without you realizing it, of course, one movie with subliminal messages doesn’t turn a saint into a devil, but it makes me wonder just how much our behavior is influenced by messages unseen (or unheard).

"It's a naked woman in the window"

"What's on the poster?"

🤐

"Like seriously 🤦"

Maybe I should have made this post PG18 but unfortunately these are all kids movies 🤔🤔....movies some of us have watched.

I have chosen the above pictures because I have watched most if not all, but I didnt notice anything wrong with them at the time... (To the skeptic: why put all that there if there is no effect, no end game?? ) If these can affect our behaviour what more the movies we watch with obvious sinister, sexual or evil themes?? We must realise that there is an agenda, a serious Battle for the mind..let's not forget our adversary is a Master of psychology and has thousands of years experience and so it would do us good to heed to the warning....

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

1 Peter 1:13

I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

Psalm 101:3
